Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Moonlight handles information in connection with rdio, our project website, documentation, and support channels.

We at Moonlight Studios ("Moonlight," "we," "us," or "our") make rdio, a self-hosted radio product. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and process personal data when you use Moonlight-operated websites, documentation, downloads, and support channels related to rdio.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to self-hosted rdio deployments operated by you or by third parties. If you deploy, administer, or use an independently hosted rdio instance, the operator of that instance is responsible for its data collection, storage, security, retention, users, and legal compliance.

Personal data we collect

We may collect information you provide directly to Moonlight, such as your name, email address, support messages, feedback, bug reports, and other information you choose to send us.

We may also collect basic technical information from Moonlight-operated pages, such as browser type, device information, approximate location from IP address, referring page, pages visited, and logs needed to keep our website and documentation working.

Self-hosted deployments

Moonlight does not automatically receive the listener data, broadcaster data, logs, media, analytics, credentials, or configuration from your self-hosted rdio instance.

The person or organization running an rdio deployment controls that environment and is responsible for how it handles data. That includes the instance's database, logs, storage, identity provider, backups, secrets, retention settings, user access, and any connected third-party services.

How we use personal data

We use personal data to respond to support requests, maintain and improve rdio, publish documentation, understand website usage, prevent abuse, communicate product updates, and comply with applicable obligations.

How we share personal data

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with vendors who help us operate Moonlight websites, documentation, analytics, hosting, and support, or when required by law, security needs, or protection of rights.

Cookies and preferences

Moonlight-operated pages may use cookies or similar technologies to remember preferences, support theme settings, understand traffic, and keep the site working.

Your self-hosted rdio instance may use its own cookies, local storage, logs, or analytics depending on how it is configured. Moonlight is not responsible for cookie notices, consent flows, or privacy disclosures for independently operated deployments.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required for legal, security, accounting, or operational reasons.

Operators of self-hosted rdio instances are responsible for setting their own retention practices.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards for information handled by Moonlight.

For self-hosted rdio deployments, the operator is responsible for infrastructure security, access control, updates, backups, secrets, network configuration, monitoring, incident response, and any legal duties that apply after a security event.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data handled by Moonlight.

For data in a self-hosted rdio deployment, contact the operator of that deployment. Moonlight may not have access to that data and may not be able to respond to requests about independently hosted instances.

Policy changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as rdio and Moonlight evolve. If changes are material, we will update the effective date or provide another reasonable notice.
