rdio.

First-time setup

Create your station administrator and get the control room ready for your team.

After rdio is running, the first person to open the web admin completes station setup.

Create the administrator

  1. Open the web admin in your browser.
  2. If no administrator exists yet, you are redirected to the Set up your station page.
  3. Enter your name, email, and password.
  4. Submit the form.

The first account created becomes the station administrator. This account can manage members and has full access to the control room.

Once setup is complete, sign in at /login with the administrator email and password.

Add team members

Administrators can create accounts for other station staff:

  1. Open Members in the sidebar.
  2. Click New member.
  3. Enter the member's name, email, and a temporary password.
  4. Save.

New members are created with the user role. They must change their password on first sign-in before they can use the rest of the app.

What members can do

RoleAccess
adminFull control room access, including Members management
userSchedule, broadcast, programs, hosts, media, profile, and settings

Non-admin members who open Members see their own Settings page instead.

After setup, work through these in order:

  1. Upload media: add recordings you plan to schedule. See Media library.
  2. Create hosts and programs: optional but useful for labeling shows. See Programs and hosts.
  3. Build the schedule: add recording and live broadcast slots. See Schedule.
  4. Verify the stream: confirm /live.mp3 plays fallback audio. See Monitoring the stream.
  5. Test a live broadcast: schedule a live slot and connect BUTT. See Live broadcast.

Station settings

Open Settings (or Members → settings for non-admins) to view:

  • Station name, slug, and timezone
  • Public stream URL and mount point
  • Fallback source configuration
  • Links to the API and Icecast admin

Most station defaults are set at deploy time. The timezone affects how the schedule calendar interprets slot times.
